Spencer was born and raised in the Dallas area and graduated with Honors from Stephen F. Austin State University where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement and Political Science/Pre-Law. During his undergraduate career, Spencer served as the President of three student organizations and was inducted into the Criminal Justice Honors Society.
After earning his undergraduate degree, Spencer continued his legal education at The University of Tulsa College of Law. There, Spencer continued to develop his advocacy skills. Those skills were apparent when Spencer won first place in each moot court competition in his first year of law school. Spencer also earned the 2011-2012 Competitor of the Year Award by the Board of Advocates. Ultimately, he was inducted into a prestigious organization, The Order of the Barristers, an honor awarded only to the top ten students in trial advocacy, oral advocacy, and brief-writing.
Following law school, Spencer immediately put his passion for advocacy to use by accepting a position as an Assistant District Attorney at the Denton County District Attorney’s Office. Spencer served in various roles as he moved up in rank, including: misdemeanor prosecutor, family violence prosecutor, misdemeanor court chief, deputy division chief, and eventually, felony prosecutor. In addition to these roles, Spencer also served as a special prosecutor and the environmental crimes prosecutor. Spencer was extremely devoted in his roles at the DA’s Office and has brought that same passion to his private practice, which he founded in 2020.
As a defense attorney, Spencer is committed to providing practical, persuasive, and effective representation to his clients. His previous experience as an Assistant District Attorney gives Spencer a unique perspective into the criminal justice process, which Spencer uses to analyze each case and optimally represent his clients. Spencer is proud to represent North Texans in Denton, Collin, and Dallas Counties.
