Attorney

Biography

Before graduating with her Juris Doctor from the Texas A&M University School of Law, Gina earned her Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and English from Texas Tech University. She then graduated with a Master’s in Business Administration from Texas Woman’s University. With each degree, Gina graduated with honors.

Gina’s time in law school was defined by her passion and skill for advocacy. She served as the President of the Board of Advocates and was the recipient of the Preeminent Advocate award, which is the highest honor awarded to a student advocate. Gina also scored First Place Advocate in the annual National American Bar Association Competition in New York, contributing to her well-earned induction into the National Order of the Barristers. She began refining her courtroom experience while still in law school, serving as a student advocate in the prosecution clinic at A&M. While she awaited her law license, she spent her time with the Tarrant County DA’s office as a post-bar intern.

From there, Gina began her career as a prosecutor with the Denton County DA’s Office. Right away, Gina distinguished herself as an excellent trial attorney and meticulous advocate and was awarded “Rookie of the Year” in 2015. Soon after, she was promoted to Misdemeanor Court Chief and ultimately held the position of Misdemeanor Deputy Chief. Gina’s work ethic and success led to her selection as a member of Denton County’s DWI Enforcement Committee and she was appointed as Special Prosecutor on cases twice.

During her tenure at the DA’s office, Gina tried over 125 cases to a jury and handled thousands of cases from pre-filing to final disposition. She has intimate knowledge and unique understanding of the processes by which cases are reviewed, filed, negotiated, and ultimately disposed of.

Gina’s expertise in criminal law, however, extends beyond the courtroom. She is a highly-respected attorney in the Denton County legal community and is often consulted on criminal cases and trial strategy. She has spoken at numerous law enforcement training sessions where the focus centered on DWI investigations and courtroom testimony. Embracing her role as a natural leader, Gina has trained numerous new prosecutors to become fearless and effective advocates in their own right, who have then gone on to become Court Chiefs or hold other positions.
